It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of Shaina (Smith) Zelazo on April 26, 2026. A proud graduate of the Trona High School Class of 1993, Shaina was born on February 8, 1974.

For multiple years, Shaina fought a courageous battle against cancer, facing every treatment with everything she had. Just as she seemed to be improving, her body ultimately grew too tired to continue the fight.

Those who knew Shaina will always remember her vibrant passion for running. She eagerly entered every race she could, pursuing her love for the sport until she was physically no longer able to run.

Shaina leaves behind a loving family, including her husband, DJ, and their three children, Russell, Trinity, and Caleb. She is also survived by her brother, Jared Smith THS Class of 1995.
