Cecilia “Cissy” Cowey 21 May 1956 – May 9, 2026

Cecilia “Cissy” Cowey passed away at her home on May 9, 2026, just days before celebrating her 70th birthday.

A proud alumna of Trona High School’s Class of 1974, Cissy was an exceptionally accomplished student and a dedicated leader. Throughout her high school years, she served as Vice President of her class and Editor-in-Chief of the Telescope yearbook. Highly regarded for both her character and scholastic achievements, she was a member of the National Honor Society, the California Scholarship Federation, and the Mathletes, and was honored with the D.A.R. Good Citizen Award. Cissy also dynamically contributed to student life as Publicity Chairman and as an active member of Chorus, Drama, and the Pep Club.

Cissy was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Duncan Cowey (1965–2004). She is survived by her brother, Mark Cowey, and an extended circle of family and lifelong friends who hold her memory dear. Sincere condolences are extended to the family during this time of loss.
