Ray’s son, Earl, posted the following on Facebook September 8, 2023:
Raymond Sorrells (Class of ’60, Trona High) passed tonight about 7 pm in Vegas. He is no longer in pain or struggling. I covet prayers for my mother and family. He was 81. I thank you all for the prayers. I lift up you all, as I know many who are going through similar situations with parents and family. God be with you all and keep you.

Ray was such a gentle, caring soul. I was truly blessed with his friendship over all these years, and I will miss him. My deepest sympathy to all the members of his family, each of whom he loved so dearly.
Earl and family, it brings great sorrow to hear of Raymond’s passing. He was always a soft spoken , caring person. Even with the pain and discomfort, he was friendly and didn’t complain. Prayers for the families grieving process, May you have comfort knowing his pain is gone.
