After a year-long battle with cancer, Cathy (1958–2026) passed away surrounded by her family. She will be deeply remembered not only by her loved ones, but also by her former classmates from Trona High School, where she participated in almost every activity, and by her former students at Trona Elementary School, where she taught from 1984 to 2023.
Cathy’s sister, Karen Gilbert (1959–2024), was a member of the Class of 1977, and her brother, David, was a member of the Class of 1979.
Our heartful thoughts and best wishes go out to her family and loved ones during this time of sorrow.
I am so sorry that she had to battle this horrible diagnosis of cancer. I send out condolences to her family members. This is a difficult loss to accept. RIP Cathy.

Please accept our deepest sympathy in the death of Cathy. She was our dear friend and babysitter for our children for many years. We were neighbors and watched her grow up in Trona. She was such a lovely lady. We had coffee with her a few years ago in Port Townsend, WA.
