After a year-long battle with cancer, Cathy (1958–2026) passed away surrounded by her family. She will be deeply remembered not only by her loved ones, but also by her former classmates from Trona High School, where she participated in almost every activity, and by her former students at Trona Elementary School, where she taught during the late 1980s.

Cathy’s sister, Karen Gilbert (1959–2024), was a member of the Class of 1977, and her brother, David, was a member of the Class of 1979.
