The post office is the building on the left behind the cars in the picture above. It opened on March 27, 1914. It’s opening marks the beginning of the town,Trona. The first post office in Searles Valley was actually on the other side of the lake in Slate Range City.  Slate Range City was already an abandoned ghost town by 1914. The picture below shows the post office from another angle.

About David L Stevens

David has been the creator and maintainer of Trona on the Web since 1996. He has been creating websites since the beginning of the World Wide Web. He is not the best person to be the webmaster for a Trona Website but someone needs to do it and Doug Polly isn't with us any longer. David worked in maintenance for the San Bernardino City Schools, retired from Honeywell, worked in IT for a while, as school bus driver until COVID-19 made it too dangerous. David is now retired and spends his time gardening, collecting stamps and learning to cook.

  1. Larivee for Assembly

Hello to all of you in the greater Trona area! I am looing forward to meeting all of you! Most candidates I know ignore areas like yours. I won’t! I will be coming up on Friday and again on Saturday afternoon and possibly Sunday to get to know all of you, and make myself available to hear your ideas on fixing our State.

Government has seperated itself from the people and its time we rebuild America from the ground up, starting right here in our 33rd Assembly District. That is why we formed “TEAM 33”. You won’t be electing me to the State Assembly, but a team.

Here is my personal cell phone number (909) 851-6481. I want to hear from you. Give me a call if anyone would like me to address their group and answer any of your questions. I am the only cnadidate that is running a “bare roots” / “grass roots” campaign. Most candidates beleive it’s about raising mmoney and buying votes through adds and voters guides. I beleive it is about representing the people and that can not be done unless you beat feet and go out and meet!

Feel free to copy and paste my message into an emaila nd send it to al your friends across the 33rd District and beyond. See you Friday Trona!

Sounds great, does anyone know if the Trona Railroad may offer tours and/or rides on their trains? Could someone suggest that? That would be great if the Trona Railroad could offer rides on some of their track to show us around!

The Trona Railway will not be giving rides during the centennial. They are not equipped to carry passengers and do not have the proper insurance to cover the possible liability if something went wrong.

Sounds great! I should be in the general area at that time, so hopefully I can stop by. I look forward to seeing a detailed schedule of events!
